LAKE POWELL

Lake Powell, located on the Colorado River at the border between Utah and Arizona, is a stunning man-made reservoir known for its deep blue waters and striking sandstone landscapes. The reservoir was created by the damming of the Colorado River, and the completion of the Glen Canyon Dam in 1963 led to the flooding of Glen Canyon. Covering over 161,000 acres and stretching up to 186 miles long, Lake Powell is the second largest man-made reservoir in the United States by maximum water capacity.

Visitors can explore the lake by boat, benefiting from the numerous marinas and boat rentals available, or enjoy fishing, kayaking, and water skiing. The surrounding area offers unique geological formations, panoramic cliff views, and several hiking trails. From Kanab, Utah, Lake Powell is approximately 75 miles away, a drive that generally takes about an hour and a half. This proximity makes it a popular day trip or vacation destination, offering a blend of recreational activities and breathtaking natural beauty.
