Lena & Kenny Seng - Catori Canyon.jpg

About Us

Growing up, Lena enjoyed a Montana farming and ranch life that included four years on the Broken Heart Dude ranch in Haugan, Montana. The dude ranch, located in the heart of Montana’s greatest logging country, was where Kenny grew up learning about logging, sawmills, equipment, and construction. This part of Montana is where he and Lena began their marriage and family life before choosing to further their education (BYU, Provo) and move to Utah County in 1978.

To support a growing family while pursuing university studies Kenny gained valuable construction experience working part time for Clegg Construction, of Orem, Utah. This led to full time work for other construction companies, acquiring his Utah general contracting license, and forming Kenny Seng Construction (KSC) in 1985. Humble self-made beginnings from a home basement, hiring one Caterpillar backhoe operator, long hours and days soon became the norm.

The days, weeks, months, and years were built around personal dreams and goals, adventures, challenges, determination, teamwork, and perseverance to build a successful company. A company now with a forty-year legacy of excellence and commitment towards KSC’s family of 300+ employees, local Utah community construction projects, Habitat for Humanity, and other charitable organizations.

In 2021 when considering retirement and succession, Kenny and Lena chose to form an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) for KSC. A plan that allowed KSC to contribute company shares to the ownership plan for the availability of employees to own company stock. Employees currently enjoy security and financial benefits due to their dedicated hard work and KSC’s continuing growth and success.

In reference to Kenny’s 1978-1985 Clegg Construction years, he enjoyed working on the challenging 1983-1985 Virgin River Diversion Structure and pipeline (Quail Creek) project for them. He also witnessed the Kaibab logging and forest products industry which led him to feel right at home in southern Utah.

When the retirement opportunity arose to purchase potential property, Kenny shared his thoughts and dreams about southern Utah and Kanab with Lena. Thus, Catori Canyon Development came to be with our time-honored excellence and commitment to serve the local community of Kanab and its local organizations.

Our humble self-made beginnings continue here in Catori Canyon and Kanab. Where the legacy of farming and ranch life are in the deep veins and history of hard working and faithful local people.
