BALLOONS AND TUNES

Seasons of Celebration

Experience the spirit of the Southwest in every season.

Life in Kanab isn't just about breathtaking landscapes—it’s about the energy, culture, and community that bring the desert to life. Throughout the year, the town plays host to a series of signature events that celebrate its Western heritage, artistic soul, and love for the land. Whether you're a local or a visitor, these gatherings offer a unique way to connect with the region—and each other.

The annual Balloon and Tunes Roundup kicks off the local tourist season in February, with the last week of May bringing live action PRCA rodeo starring national professional cowboys, cowgirls, prize money, and rodeo royalty displaying their excellent horsemanship.

In August, the town transforms during Western Legends Heritage & Music Festival, where country music, cowboy poetry, and historic reenactments fill the streets in a nod to Kanab’s cinematic past. That's not all, year-round art walks, film screenings, and farmers markets keep the cultural heartbeat strong no matter the season.

These celebrations are more than events—they’re invitations to explore. As the music fades and the balloons drift beyond the horizon, the natural world waits just beyond town. With several world-renowned parks a short drive from Kanab, the festivities serve as the perfect prelude to a deeper journey into the awe-inspiring wilderness that surrounds it.

Catori Canyon isn’t just near Utah’s natural wonders—it’s surrounded by them. From this singular location in Kanab, residents are within reach of all five of Utah’s legendary national parks—Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands—collectively known as The Mighty Five. Each park offers its own breathtaking terrain, from towering red rock arches to sweeping desert vistas, and all are easily accessed for a weekend escape or an impromptu day trip.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there. Just beyond Kanab lies the untamed beauty of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, a vast and rugged expanse filled with slot canyons, waterfalls, and ancient fossils. To the south, Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and the elusive, photogenic wonder of The Wave offer some of the most coveted hikes in the Southwest. Closer to home, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park provides a stunning, ever-changing playground of rose-colored dunes perfect for exploration by foot, ATV, or camera lens.

For those craving even more adventure, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, with its dramatic vistas and serene trails, is just over an hour’s drive away. Equally close is Lake Powell, a shimmering oasis of turquoise waters bordered by striking red rock cliffs, offering world-class boating, fishing, and paddleboarding opportunities.

Being at the heart of all this natural splendor gives Catori Canyon unmatched value—blending refined desert living with front-row access to some of the most iconic landscapes in the world.
